The Values Advocacy Program (VAP) of Fortune Life Insurance Co. marked another milestone as the celebration for its seventh year of promoting "The Values of Hard Work and Discipline" among Filipino teachers and students reaped abundant support despite the onset of typhoon Maring.
In a Pahiyas-filipiniana themed celebration on September 12 at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, DepEd Central Office in Pasig City, Fortune Life, together with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Marylindbert International, honored teachers and superintendents who greatly exemplified the values of hard work and discipline.
In his speech, President D. Arnold A. Cabangon of Fortune Life announced that from the conception of the advocacy up to this date, 795,000 workbooks and 17, 700 teaching guides were distributed to 2092 public schools in the country and reached 3.5 million children from public schools.
DedEd Undersecretary Lorna Dig-Dino, guest of honor and keynote speaker, extended her gratitude to Fortune Life.
"The advocacy has been a motivation for teachers to excel in their vocation," she said.
Moreover, Fortune Life EVP-GM Evelyn T. Carada emphasized that educating young minds is a challenging task and that educators truly need to be recognized for their hard work and discipline.
Along with the celebration of the program, the 6th Ambassador Antonio L. Cabangon Chua Gintong Parangal Para sa Edukasyon were awarded to educators who manifested profound commitment to development of the values of hard work and discipline of the youth, exemplified hard work, discipline and dedication to their work, and effective educational leadership and excellence in the teaching profession.
The winners were Aileen Royo-Apostol of Sto. Niño SPED Center in Tacloban City; Allan M. Delos Reyes of District ALS Center in Minalin, Pampanga; Ma. Regaele A. Olarte of Muntinlupa National High School of Muntinlupa; Vladimir B. Paraiso of F. Benitez Elementary School in Manila; and Ma. Lourdes C. Valondo of Dr. Felipe De Jesus National High School in Bulacan.
The honorable mentions were Dr. Jesus C. Insilada of Alcarde Gustilo Memorial National High School in Iloilo; Dr. Rene Rose M. Labasan, PhD, San Juan Elementary School in Nueva Vizcaya; and Roderick L. Labay of Apnagan Elementary School in Oriental Mindoro.
This year's program also commenced the search for Gintong Parangal Para sa Edukasyon Pamumuno awardees to recognize the achievements of schools division superintendents, assistant school division superintendents, and administrative officers in DepEd who have implemented distinct projects, programs and activities that have benefitted the school children, teachers, schools, the division office and the communities in their respective divisions.
The awardees were Dr. Mina Gracia L. Acosta from division of Bulacan; Dr. Leila P. Areola, CESO VI, from division of Cagayan; Dr. Wilfredo E. Cabral, CESO V, from division of Manila; Dr. Vilma D. Eda, CESO VI from division of Ilocos Norte, and Dr. Leonardo D. Zapanta, EdD, CESO VI from division of Pampanga.
The honorable mentions were Christopher R. Diaz from division of Rizal, Joel B. Lopez, EdD CESO VI from division of Laoag and Rhina L. Silva from division of Batangas City.
Corporate giveaways including Philippines Graphic and Business Mirror issues which featured the event were handed out to attendees as a token of gratitude for their continued support.
